Regional e-Commerce reaches a new level
In 2024, Pepita Group Zrt. increased its domestic gross revenue by more than 24% compared to 2023, while its growth, including international markets, reached 39.3%. On pepita.hu, a successful order was placed every 72 seconds on average last year. The number of online purchases paid for electronically grew by 47%. With a community exceeding 1 million active users, the company anticipates further growth both domestically and internationally.
Pepita Group Zrt. achieved significant growth in 2024 in both domestic and international markets. Its domestic gross revenue exceeded HUF 23.5 billion, marking a 24.4% increase compared to 2023. Including the Romanian, Slovak, German, Austrian, Polish, and Bulgarian markets, the growth reached 39.3%, with total gross revenue across all markets approaching HUF 29 billion. “The number of products sold also expanded dynamically,” said József Dorcsinecz, co-founder of Pepita Group Zrt. “In Hungary, sales increased by 14.1%, while across international markets, the growth reached 25.2% compared to 2023.” Domestically, the company sold more than 2 million products in 2024 and exceeded 1 million active users, meaning that over the past 12 months, more than 1 million users visited pepita.hu and completed a successful purchase.
In Hungary and Slovakia, electronic products were the most popular based on the number of units sold, whereas baby products topped the sales charts in Austria, Romania, and Germany. In Poland, IT products led sales. After Hungary, Romania generated the highest revenue for Pepita Group Zrt., with a turnover of HUF 4 billion. Slovakia, Germany, Poland, Austria, and Bulgaria collectively reached a turnover of HUF 1.5 billion. Pepita Group Zrt. continues to strive to become the leading e-commerce platform in the region, fully catering to customer needs while opening new opportunities for partners to sell online. Nearly 200 Hungarian marketplace partners of Pepita Group are already active in international markets, meaning their products appear on at least one or more foreign platforms.
Product categories driving sales to new heights
Several product categories played a significant role in boosting sales. The gross revenue from large household appliances grew more than fourfold in 2024 compared to 2023, while gaming chairs saw a threefold increase. The number of online purchases paid for electronically grew by 47%.
New records and remarkable figures
In 2024, the highest order value reached HUF 19.7 million for a single order containing 180 products. On pepita.hu, a successful order was placed every 72 seconds on average. One in four customers placed more than one order during the year. Some outstanding examples include a single user purchasing 10,730 products across 82 orders in 2024.
Compared to 2023, orders were placed from 27% more user profiles in 2024, pushing Pepita.hu past the milestone of 1 million unique buyers. According to GKID’s 2024 ranking, Pepita is the third-largest Hungarian e-commerce company by revenue. Among the 15 most recognized e-commerce companies, Pepita ranks sixth, with only two other companies being 100% Hungarian-owned. Thanks to its outstanding performance, Pepita Group Zrt. ranks among the top one-thousandth of Hungarian e-commerce businesses in 2024.
